Experiencing My Culture Through Reading
Fundraiser

These books will make all of the difference in my classroom! Reading is something that every young child needs to be able to do as often as possible. With a large number of English Language Learners in my classroom, I strive to put as many words as possible in front of my students. For this classroom, the opportunity to have a class library will increase literacy rates in students who demonstrate the highest need. Access to books in our classroom will further grow my students' interests and abilities when it comes to reading and writing.

I strive to provide my diverse group of students with diverse materials that will further grow their minds, add perspective to their experiences, and further explore their unique interests.

This collection of books does just that. Growing our library will make all of the difference for our academic year and the academic years to come by providing students with as many opportunities as possible to read. My students treat books with love and care because they understand that this is a chance for them to be leaders and take care of materials so that they can be shared with future students/classes.

3D Printing Our Way to Financial Literacy

Zeta Delta Nu Sorority Incorporated Philanthropy Division gives back when it is need. Here is another one of our efforts.

A Word From:

Mr. Oates

Grades 9-12

El Dorado High School

El Paso, TX

This project made an impact on my classroom immediately. First, who doesn't like receiving packages or presents in the mail? I told my students I had some exciting materials on the way for them, and when they arrived, I had my classes open the boxes. Many of them have never seen a 3D printer. Next, I simply told a few students to "build this". The puzzled look on their face was beautiful. "Here is a screw driver, build this". I don't think any of them expected to be doing that when they came to school that day, and we hadn't even started using the 3D printer itself. After assembly, I quickly had a list of students with requests on things to print. Students have been coming before school, during lunch, and after school to check out the 3D printer. This project is exposing my student population to technology that many people don't have access to. Thank you!!!”

With gratitude,

Mr. Oates

Dear Zeta Delta Nu Sorority Inc,

Thank you! My students will be so excited. I have been exposing them to as much technology as possible in the classroom to give them opportunities to learn hands-on. Utilizing this tool alongside financial literacy curriculum will help maintain their attention, when normally high school students don't have the patience and interest in financial literacy as much as I wish they would. I will be able to expose students to a 3D printer, bring fun into the classroom, and teach them about finance all at the same time. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

With gratitude,

Mr. Oates
